The very first August Dispatch workshop is finally here.

I’ve been hinting at running an AI workshop in for some months now, but I never found the right structure for it. That’s now a thing of the past.

Welcome to The AI Build Shop. It’s an event where we talk about AI, and then you actually sit down and build something with it. Four Saturdays, one room at Venture Nest in Osu, and at the end of it, a live website with your name on it and by you.

Why this workshop, and why now

Since I started building with AI and writing about it here, people have reached out asking me to show them how I do it. They didn’t want help asking a chatbot questions. They wanted to know how to use AI to make something real, something that goes further than another Google search.

Most people have tried AI by now, but far fewer have built anything with it. Getting answers from a chatbot is useful. Putting your own website or idea online with it is a bigger step, and it’s the one most people haven’t been shown how to take.

Reading build logs on this blog can only take you so far. It’s much easier when someone is in the room with you while your own page comes together on your screen. That’s what this event is for: taking building off the blog and into a room where people learn by doing. The first edition of The AI Build Shop is happening in Accra, Ghana.

The writer William Gibson is credited with a line I come back to a lot: “The future is already here. It’s just not very evenly distributed.” Tools that let anyone build a website by describing it in plain words are available right now. The AI Build Shop is my small attempt at spreading them a little more evenly.

What The AI Build Shop is

The AI Build Shop, or TABS, is a hands-on AI workshop in Accra that runs over four Saturdays in November 2026 at Venture Nest in Osu.

Venture Nest

Each session pairs a short talk with time on your laptop, and most of that time goes into building.

It’s open to entrepreneurs, workers, students, job seekers and anyone curious about AI. You don’t need any coding or tech background.

What you’ll build

Everyone leaves with a live personal website, and you decide what it’s about. It might be about you and your work, something you make or sell, or an idea you care about. Every finished site will be featured on The AI Build Shop showcase.

Along the way, you’ll learn how to write good prompts, create and edit images with AI, turn an idea into a clear plan, build a website by describing it in plain words (often called vibe coding), and publish and update your site yourself after the course.

My own projects, like GhanaNice, an AI-powered guide to discovering Ghana, and CHOP FIRST, a browser racing game, were built with AI. TABS is where I share that process in person.

How the four Saturdays work

The first Saturday opens with a brief introductory speech from Daniel Kwaku Merki, Country Director of Zipline Ghana. From there, we get you set up with the AI tools you’ll use and start shaping your website idea. The Saturdays that follow take you from planning to building, and the last one is Demo Day, when you present what you’ve made.

The full schedule is on the event website.

Who’s behind TABS 1.0

The AI Build Shop is presented by The August Dispatch and Venture Nest, which is hosting all four Saturdays in Osu. BUILD_it, a Ghanaian learning platform, is supporting the event by sharing it with its network.

I’m Augustine Osei, known as August, founder of August Labs and the person behind The August Dispatch. I’ll be leading the sessions.

Frequently asked questions

Not for this one. The AI Build Shop is designed for people with no coding or tech background. You build your website by describing what you want in plain words, and we go through it together step by step.

What will I actually build at The AI Build Shop?

A live personal website about a topic you choose, whether that’s you and your work, something you sell, or an idea you care about. You’ll publish it online and learn how to update it yourself, and every finished site is featured on the TABS showcase.

When and where is The AI Build Shop?

The first edition runs on Saturdays 7, 14, 21 and 28 November 2026, from 11am to 2pm, at Venture Nest in Osu, Accra. Directions and the full schedule are on events.theaugustdispatch.com.

Come build with us

Some things are easier to learn with someone beside you, and building with AI for the first time is one of them. If you’ve been curious about what you could make with these tools, or you’re one of the people who asked me how I do it, I’d love to have you in the room.

Register at events.theaugustdispatch.com and I’ll see you at Venture Nest on Saturday 7 November.
